In my Spanish III classes, students will be completing a unit on Mexican civilization and culture exploring the Aztec and Mayan ruins. Part of the final project will be writing and illustrating an original legend using vocabulary and symbols discovered throughout the unit.
I could use a digital storytelling website to have students publish their work online instead of in print. This would be a great project to incorporate technology into an “ancient” unit plan! 🙂
For this assignment, I used StoryBird. All of the images used for illustrations are made by artists that release their copyrights to students and educators to make their own online stories. I made a mock story so that I could figure out how to help my students if they have questions along the way. It’s pretty user-friendly. I also like that they can download PDF copies of their stories.
